There is some difficulty in placing "Fanny" 's family. Margaret Francis Brumfied was a popular name in the family. Fanny had a great aunt and several cousins with the same name.
This family seems to have lived just north of Folsom LA., an area that was originally in Saint Tammany Parish. They were the first Brumfields to settle in this area in 1808 while still Spanish West Florida. After the Americans took control "Fanny" 's father, William, had more cousins to settle in the vicinity. Their homestead locale became Washington Parish.
Fanny married Thomas Carroll and Tom Jr. was born in 1857 in Saint Tammany Parish, LA. "It is possible that Fannie's husband, Thomas Carroll, was born in Ireland."
