Biography

Jean Baptiste BRUN was born 5 September 1715 in Port Royal, Acadie, and was christened there on 29 September 1715.[1]

He married Marguerite GAUDET on 22 January 1742 in Port Royal, Acadia,[2]

Their children were Alexis BRUN born about 1743 in Acadie, Bonaventure BRUN born 20 January 1745 in Port Royal, Acadie, Amable BRUN born 20 January 1754 in Chipoudy, Acadie, and Anne Gertrude BRUN born about November 1755.

British soldiers arrived in August 1755 to deport the population of Chipoudy. The local missionary, Father LeGuerne, encouraged the Acadians to hide in the woods as the British burned their evacuated village of Chipoudy. Two-hundred refugee families fled to Quebec to escape deportation. Jean Baptiste fled with his family to Quebec, where he died about 22 May 1758, and was buried in Quebec City on 23 May 1758. [3]
