With his brother, Pierre, he fled the English when Fort Beausejour was captured in the summer of 1755. He married at Port Lajoie on Ile Saint Jean in 1757;his brother was one of the witnesses at his marriage. The young couple sought refuge at Restigouche where in 1760, they baptized a child. "Par la suite" the family settled at Carleton, in the Gaspe. Towards 1780, the family came to settle at Minudie. One of their sons, Alexis, married and settled at Cap Pelé about 1806. He is the ancestor of one of the roots of this family in that region.
