Benjamin was born in 1793. Benjamin is a son of Solomon Brundage and Mary (Collins) Brundage, per private records held by his descendants. He was an early settler in Greenwood, Steuben County, New York. In 1830 he moved from Bath, Steuben County, New York to Greenwood and set up a carding machine and cloth "manufactory" in that town.

Benjamin married Charity Lanning in Sussex County, New Jersey 13 June 13th 1818. They are listed as from "Frankford and Newton." The 1850 Census states that Charity's birth state as New Jersey and that of Benjamin S Brundage as NYork (?) though he is generally thought to have been born in Frankford Township, New Jersey.

Charity and Benjamin had a large family together. The online "History of Greenwood" by Pam Davis indicates they had seven sons whose names included: "Robert L. and Benjamin C. are prominent lawyers; Israel M. a successful farmer, --he has for several years been supervisor of the town; and John M. Brundage has been justice of sessions."

Benjamin's name is some times written with the middle initial as "F" and sometimes as "S", though in the end his gravestone says "S."

Note: this profile has a "living son" attached that must be in error, but the system will not allow it to be erased.
