Biography

Leonard Brune is a Military Veteran.
Served in the World War II; Korean War

Leonard was born in 1922. He was the son of Ben Brune and Bernardine Wellman. He passed away in 2006. [1]

Obituary:
Leonard Bernard "Len" Brune was born on September 11, 1922, in West Point, Iowa to Bernard and Bernadine (nee Wellman) Brune. He died April 11, 2006, at his home.

Mr. Brune was a Chief Petty Officer (CPO) in the United States Navy before retiring in 1963. He served during World War II and the Korean War and was awarded National Defense Medals and a Bronze Star. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, Holy Rosary Council # 4483, St. James Catholic Church where he was a Eucharistic Minister and belonged to the seniors' group.

Leonard is survived by his wife of 59 years, Bernice E. (nee Snaadt), whom he married on May 18, 1946, in West Point, Iowa; his children Jeff (Nadine) Brune of Rolling Meadows, Sue Stogsdill of Wheaton, Tom (Lynn) Brune of Cary, Joyce (Tom) Gack of Vernon Hills, Beth (David) Wright of Voorhees, NJ, and Paul Brune of Cary; his grandchildren, Heather Brune Collins, Jill Gack, Kyle Brune, Scot Reid, Sarah Reid, Jamie Gack, Julie Briley, Morgan Stogsdill, Will Stogsdill, Jason Wright, Kellan Brune, and Jessica Wright; his great-grandchildren, Cailey Brune Collins, Alex Collins, and Maya Briley; his siblings, Kathryn McGuckin of Akron, OH, Evelyn (Francis) Mansheim of Corpus Christi, TX, and Gen Brune of West Point, IA.

He is preceded in death by his parents and his siblings, Adelaide Brune, Bernard "Snip" Brune, Edward Brune, George Brune, Aloysius Brune, Rose Brune, and Loretta Brune.
