Biography

Rebecca was born in 1800. [1] She was supposedly the daughter of Tillotson and Hannah Bronson, although it seems questionable (see research question below).

Rebecca was reportedly married in 1822 (needs documentation) to Simon Mark in Percy Township, Northumberland County, Canada West. The Marks are recorded in Northumberland county in 1824, 1827, 1829, 1826, and 1830. According to the same transcribed Northumberland County Pioneer Settlement Records [2], there were several members of the Brunson family living in Northumberland including Amasa and Barnabus, who had been recorded there beginning in 1803, and Philander and William, who show later on the records (1818).

An on-line source reported that the Marks were living next to "Orsamus Brunson and wife" in 1824, but I have not been able to access that record. Orsamus may be Orsonus Brunson, son of the aforementioned Barnabus Brunson.

Rebecca died about 1835; Simon subsequently left Canada and moved to the United States where he remarried around 1840.[3]

Research Question?

Why was Rebecca in Ontario. It doesn't seem that her parents were there. Was she related to Barnabus Brunson?

DNA Connections
It may be possible to confirm family relationships with Rebecca by comparing test results with other carriers of her mitochondrial DNA. However, there are no known mtDNA test-takers in her direct maternal line. It is likely that these autosomal DNA test-takers will share some percentage of DNA with Rebecca:

I'm not 100% sure that this is her, but I found a birth record that could indicate her correct birthdate "Connecticut Births and Christenings, 1649-1906," database, FamilySearch (https://familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:F7WR-JSZ : 11 February 2018), Rebecca Bronson, 07 Jul 1799; citing ; FHL microfilm unknown.
