Biography

Iabel was born on 22 Jan 1847 and she was baptised on 23 May 1854 in Cochin, Madras, India, the daughter of George and Arabella Brunton (née Peters). In 1861 George Brunton 15 and his siblings Isabel 14, Robert 12, William 10 and Henry 8, all born in Hereford were all staying with their uncle and aunt Rebecca Barber 1812 widow freeholder from Birmingham at Lockleys Croft next to the Orphan Asylum in St Andrew Plymouth. There was a governess, cook, housemaid and three daughters, and a sister Gwenllian S Brunton 26 from Edmonton and another visitor. The grandparents were William Brunton 1777-1851 and Ann Elizabeth 1781-1851. Conrad Bryant Sparrow 13 February 1847, married at Plymouth 30 Nov 1869 to Isabel Brunton, eldest daughter of George Brunton esq. C.E, of Cochin, India. [London Evening Standard, 3 Dec 1869] She was buried on 6 September 1890 at Cochin Cemetery, Cochin, Madras, India. age 43 wife of Conrad Bryant Sparrow (Merchant).
