Biography
Drew was born about 1790. He died in 1843.
Mr. Drewry Drew Bryan was born in 1780 in Edgecombe County, North Carolina to Smith Bryan (c.a 1740-1809) and his wife Lucy Pettaway. Drewry was raised by his step-mother Martha Weeks. Drewry married Susan Pippen in 1809, and in 1811, following the death of his father, he inherited a large amount of land in the town of Lawrence. Drewry and Susan Pippen had four children: William (1810-?), Joseph (1812-?), Penelope (1814-1881) and Henry (1816-?). After the death of Susan Pippen, in about 1820, Drewry remarried Susan Sherrod of Martin County. Drewry and Susan had three sons: Blount (1824-1874), Gray (1828-1909) and Etheldred Bryan (1833-?). Drewry was a land owner and owned a lot of land, slaves and farm equipment. Drewry died in 1843 and divided his estate equally among his wife and children.
