Axey Bryan (or Brien) was born about 1800 in New Jersey,[1] probably Burlington County. FamilySearch indicates that "Axey" was a nickname and that her full name was Achsah, but no source is provided.[2]
On a visit to friends in Ohio, Axey met Abraham Haines, the son of Jonathan Haines and Ann Nancy Haines. Axey and Abraham married in Columbiana County, Ohio on October 7, 1819.[3][4] Abraham, like his father, was a farmer. Although, I have no sources to indicate where Abraham and Axey established their home and farm, it seems likely that it was in the area where Abraham grew up: Salem Township, Columbiana County, Ohio. Abraham was also deeded Columbiana County land from his father, Jonathan, in 1834.[5]
