Biography
Little is know about Susan B. Bryan, the first wife of Jacob Bower. According to the 1860 census, Susan was 32 years of age having been born in Ohio [1]. She married Jacob Bower on 6 July 1847 in Adams County, Ohio [2]. They had eight children between 1848 and 1864 that included five girls and three boys [3] [4]. Some time between the birth of her last child Quintilus in 1864 and the 1870 census, Susan died most likely in the state of Illinois since this was where her son was born and where her husband was living in 1870 [5].
