Biography

George Bryan was baptised on 8 September 1814 in Evenlode in Gloucestershire.[1] His parents were George Bryan and Ann Clemans.

Marriage of George Bryan and Ann Jones.

George (bachelor of Chipping Norton, farmer) married Ann Jones (spinster) on 9 November 1837 in Chipping Norton, Oxfordshire.[2] The witnesses were William Neal and Mary [Englsley]. The couple had the following children, all baptised in Evenlode:

  • Sarah Bryan was baptised on 14 October 1838.[3] Sarah later lived in Warwick and worked as a laundress.
  • William Bryan was baptised on 16 August 1840.[4]
  • Mary Ann Bryan was baptised on 15 January 1843.[5]
  • John Bryan was baptised on 18 May 1845.[6]
  • ?Jane Bryan was baptised on 28 April 1847.[7] She was possibly buried 27 May 1847 in Evenlode. Jane and Elizabeth were possibly twins, and the reason Jane was baptised two weeks earlier was perhaps due to her being unwell.
  • Elizabeth Bryan was baptised on 9 May 1847.[8]
  • Emma Bryan was baptised on 22 December 1849.[9] Emma worked as a servant and later married William Timms.
  • James Bryan was baptised on 4 April 1852.[10]
  • Eliza Bryan was baptised on 26 July 1854.[11]
  • Fanny Bryan was baptised on 19 October 1856.[12]

George's wife, Ann, was buried on 16 December 1884 in Evenlode, aged 68.[13]

George Bryan was buried on 2 March 1896 in Evenlode, described as of Evenlode and aged 82.[14]
