In 1865, the Bryant family lived in Duxbury, Massachusetts. The household included Hiram Bryant, 50 a ship carpenter; his wife Lydia, 48; and daughter Belina, 17. Also living with them was the Simmons family (Hiram’s daughter Maria, her husband and their five children). [5]
In 1870, they still lived in Duxbury. Hiram was 55, a shipwright with $500 in real estate and $175 in personal estate; Lydia was 53. Also living with them was their grandson, Willie W. Simmons, 8, in school. [6]
Hiram was born about 1815 in Duxbury, Massachusetts, the son of Joshua Bryant (b. Plympton, MA) and Princess Peterson (b. Duxbury). Hiram was a ships carpenter. He was married, aged 67, a resident of Duxbury, when he died on 1 October 1882 in Duxbury. [7]
Hiram is buried with his wife Lydia (Wadsworth) in Mayflower Cemetery, Duxbury, Massachusetts. [8]
