Biography

Hiram was born 23 October 1814 in Massachusetts, the son of Joshua and Princess Bryant. [1]

Hiram Bryant married Lydia Wadsworth.

In 1850, the Bryant family lived in Duxbury, Massachusetts. The household included Hiram Bryant, 35, a shipwright with $500 in personal estate; his wife Lydia, 33; their three daughters, Maria L., 14, in school; Sarah A., 10, in school; and Belina M., 2; and Hiram’s parents, Joshua Bryant, 68; and Princess Bryant, 75. All were born in Massachusetts. [2]

In 1855, the Bryant family lived in Duxbury, Massachusetts. The household included Hiram Bryant, 40, a carpenter; his wife Lydia, 39; their two daughters, Sarah A., 15; and Belina, 7; Hiram’s father, Joshua Bryant, 74, a mariner; his son Joshua Bryant (Jr.), 51, a mariner, and blind; and Frances Bryant (his wife?), 43, born in Spain. All were born in Massachusetts, except for Frances. [3]

In 1860 , the Bryant family lived in Duxbury, Massachusetts. The household included Hiram Bryant, 45, a shipwright with $800 in personal estate; his wife Lydia, 43; their daughter Belina M., 12, in school; and Hiram’s father, Joshua Bryant, 78, a farmer. [4]

In 1865, the Bryant family lived in Duxbury, Massachusetts. The household included Hiram Bryant, 50 a ship carpenter; his wife Lydia, 48; and daughter Belina, 17. Also living with them was the Simmons family (Hiram’s daughter Maria, her husband and their five children). [5]

In 1870, they still lived in Duxbury. Hiram was 55, a shipwright with $500 in real estate and $175 in personal estate; Lydia was 53. Also living with them was their grandson, Willie W. Simmons, 8, in school. [6]

Hiram was born about 1815 in Duxbury, Massachusetts, the son of Joshua Bryant (b. Plympton, MA) and Princess Peterson (b. Duxbury). Hiram was a ships carpenter. He was married, aged 67, a resident of Duxbury, when he died on 1 October 1882 in Duxbury. [7]

Hiram is buried with his wife Lydia (Wadsworth) in Mayflower Cemetery, Duxbury, Massachusetts. [8]
