Thurza Bryant was born on July 1, 1843 in Concord, Erie, New York to Samuel Bryant and Thurza Cross. Her mother died a few days after giving birth to her. In 1855, Thurza was a servant in the home of Asaph Spencer. [1]
On April 10, 1862, Thurza married Lanson Ashley Stanbro, son of Catherine Griffith and Henry Stanbro. In August 1862, Lanson Ashley enlisted with the Union Army for service during the United States Civil War. He returned from the war 12 months later without his right arm and part of his jaw. [2]
In 1875, Thurza and Lanson Ashley lived in Concord with their children - Eliza, Julius, Frank and Alice. Ashley was a farmer. [3] By 1880, they had another child, Clark. [4]
By 1900, only three of Thurza and Lanson Ashley's five children were still living. Ashley continued in his occupation of farming in Concord. Their son, Clark, and his wife, Myrtie, and grandson, Lanson, lived with them. [5]
Thurza died on February 1, 1904 and was buried in Evergreen Cemetery, East Concord, Erie, New York. [6]
