Margaret Bryant was born 1735 in Bedford County, Virginia (actually Brunswick County, from which Lunenburg County was formed in 1746, from which Bedford County was formed in 1753). She married 1755 in that part of Surry County, North Carolina from which Stokes County was formed in 1789 to John "Black Eye" Lawson, and died before 1803 in Stokes County. [1]
Some say she was born 1737 in King George County, the daughter of Richard Bryant who was born about 1695 in Isle of Wight County, Virginia and Cynthia "Sethy" Anderson who was born about 1697 in Prince George County, Maryland, and who were married about 1729 in King George County. [2]
This latter account involves a lot of travel for this family - over 100 miles from Isle of Wight Co. north to King George Co., then over 150 miles from King George Co. southwest to Brunswick Co.; then another 100 miles from Bedford Co. southwest to Stokes Co.
