Biography

Sarah (Bryant) Luttrell was a centenarian, living to age 101.
Sarah Ann Bryant was born 25 Jun 1792 near the James River, Patrick County, Virginia to John Bryant II and Judith Elizabeth Winfrey.[1] She was the granddaughter of John Bryant I and Sarah Murray.[2][3]

Sarah married Shelton Luttrell, 13 Nov 1813 (18 Nov per her pension application papers) in Lincoln County, Tennessee. Shelton fought in the War of 1812 where he was a Private under Capt. John Houlshouser's Co. Tennessee Militia and received a pension.[4] He died 6 Apr 1882 and Sarah never remarried.

She died on 29 May 1894 in Bader, Schuyler County, Illinois (age 101 yrs, 11 mos, 4 days) and was buried on 1 Jun 1894 in the Old Ridgeville Cemetery, Bader, Schuyler County, Illinois.[1][5]

Died, May 29th, 1894, at her residence 3 miles northwest of Browning, Sarah Luttrell, aged 101 years, 11 months and 4 days. Deceased was the mother of thirteen children, three of whom -- Nancy Wright, Mrs. W. C. Skiles and Mrs. F. H. Thornton -- survive her. Her progeny descends to the sixth generation -- great, great, great grandchildren. Funeral at the house at the hour of 10 a.m. tomorrow (Thursday).use at the hour of 10 a.m. tomorrow (Thursday).
