- Charles M. Bryant, 69, a lifetime resident of Norris City, died Sunday at 5:30 a.m. at his residence following several months of ill health.
- A retired coal miner, Mr. Bryant was born in Norris City, August 23, 1895, the son of Miley and Nancy Jane Morris Bryant. His first wife, Ethel May Bryant and four children preceded him in death.
He was married July 8, 1957 to Helen Harrison Greene, who survives. Also are surviving are two sons, Eugene Bryant, of East Garry, Indiana, and Wayne Bryant, of Phillips Town, One daughter Mrs. Bob (Joann) Maynard, of Portage Indiana; a sister, Mrs. Ida Wilson, of Norris City; a half brother, Ralph Bryant, of East St. Louis; two step sons Luther Greene, of Ashland, Missouri, and Bob Greene, of Stonington, a step daughter Mrs. Bill (Eleanor) Morgan, Norris City. A stepsister Verna Trousdale, of East St. Louis: nine grandchildren; 13 step grandchildren and one step great grandchild.
- Services will be held Tuesday at 2 p.m. from the Turner Funeral Home Chapel, with the Rev. Frank Griffith and the Rev. Wayne Harris Officiating. Interment will be in the Powell Cemetery.
