Walter arrived with his parents aboard the Earl Grey on 24 June 1841 when he was 8 years old. He moved from Mutton Falls, NSW to the Cowra farming area with his brothers Richard and John in the 1870s. Walter was buried in the Anglican section of the Cowra cemetery.
