Biography

1833 Margaret W. Bryant was born in New Brunswick, Canada on the 30th of Oct, 1833. [1]

1850 William Fritz and Margaret Fritz were married in the year 1850 in East Machias, Washington County, in the state of Maine. [2][3]

1850 "1850, United States Census," Margaret was approximately eighteen years of age. Margaret and William appear to be visiting her parents John and Mary Bryant, who reside in East Machias, Washington, Maine. [4] [1]

1860 "1860 United States Census," William's occupation was that of a sailor in the year 1860, which was common living so close to the ocean. Margaret kept house for the family. The majority of men had some type of occupation related to working on ships. They either caught the fish, prepared the fish for market when they returned to shore or preformed repairs on the ships themselves. [5]

1870 "1870, United States Census," Margaret is approximately thirty-eight, while William is about Forty-four. Williams mother Mary Polly, who appears to be sixty-six, is either visiting them or living with them. In addition, Jesse Perry Fritz Jr. is there as well. His mother Dorothy is having difficulty recovering from the loss of her husband Jesse Perry Fritz Sr. William and Margaret have five children ranging in age from two to fifteen years of age. [6] [3]

1880 "1880, United States Census," the couple's residence remains in East Machias, Washington, Maine. Margaret is approximately forty-seven years of age. Margaret's husband was evidently not home when the census was taken. Ella and her husband we visiting Margaret when the census taker arrived. [7] [8]

1900 "1900, United States Census," in this census we find that Margaret is a widow and is boarding with her daughter and a gentlemen. The residence is located in Sanford town, Springvale Village & Sanford Village, York, Maine. [8] [9]

1908 William Fritz passed away on April 16th, 1908, in Sanford, York County, Maine, USA. William's final resting place is Pine Grove Cemetery located at West Kennebunk, York, Maine. 1910 "1910, United States Census," Margaret is now approximately seventy-four years of age. She is living with her daughter Ella and her husband in Sanford, York, Maine. Margaret was born in Canada and immigrated to the USA in 1841. Her parents were both in England. Ella is about fifty-one years old and her husband fifty-five. [11] [10]

1912 Margaret W. Bryant She passed away on February 15, 1912, in Springvale, York County, Maine. She was interned at Pine Grove Cemetery, West Kennebunk, York County, Maine next to her beloved husband William Fritz. Margaret was seventy-eight years if age and had been married to her wonderful husband for fifty years. [12]
