Biography

Herb Bryce is a direct descendant of Ebenezer Bryce, whose story is told in this book. Herb was born in rural Arizona in 1933 and moved extensively throughout his childhood and teenage years. After serving four years in the Navy during the Korean War, he entered Arizona State University, where he received his undergraduate and graduate degrees. He pursued a career in the sciences, notably as division chair of Physical Sciences at Citrus College and as the dean of Science and Mathematics at Seattle Central College. Over his 40-year career, Herb taught thousands of students, where his love for teaching chemistry really shone through. He was also highly active in the American Chemical Society and served on the Shoreline School Board and on the Shoreline Parks, Recreation, and Cultural Services board for many years. He has a passion for the arts and is a cofounder of ShoreLake Arts. In his spare time, Herb loves to travel to gain an understanding of cultures around the world. Herb currently lives in Shoreline, Washington, where he is an active member of his local community. His philosophy is that service is the rent we pay for living. Ebenezer Bryce: Bryce Canyon National Park’s Namesake is Herb’s third book. For more information, please visit the author at www.HerbBryce.com.

Hi!

We’re on week five and your last stop on the guided tour.

Hopefully, you're feeling like a WikiTree pro! If not, you can always revisit the tour stops via the comment boxes on the right side of your profile.

You've covered a lot of ground the past few weeks. Today, we want to give you just a few more tools that can take you even deeper into the WikiTree forest without getting lost: How to Dig a Little Deeper.

Feel free to message me if you have questions,

Susie - Wikitree Messenger :-)

Hi Herb --

You may have been hard at work adding family members and getting connected to those that are already here. You probably have at least a few profiles that you manage now. So, this week we're going to look at how to work with your Watchlist: How to Manage Your Watchlist.

As always, your questions are welcome!

Hi again,

You have been here for a while now! We hope your profiles are starting to come together and that you've enjoyed getting to know all of us a little better.

You're probably getting a good feel for the collaborative nature of WikiTree by now. We know that collaboration isn't always easy. So, we've put together a few pointers that can make working in this type of environment a little easier: How to be a Successful WikiTreer.

Have questions? We want to help! Click the name above any of your comments, then ask in the comment section of that volunteer's page.

Hi Herb,

It's time for your next stop on the guided tour!

This week, we'd like to show you How to Join in the Community. There's no shortage of opportunities to get involved through social media, our forum, and projects.

Be sure to check out the One Name Studies Project to see if anyone has started a project for one of the surnames in your family. Don't see one? Follow the instructions for starting your own!

Please let us know if you have questions! Just click my name above the comment, then ask in the comment section of my page. We want to help!

Hi –

I'm a member of the Mentor project, and I just wanted to check in and see how things are going. Do you have any questions I can help you with?

Shirley

Welcome Herb/Carlos!

You are now a confirmed member, and you can get started adding your family members. As we've said, WikiTree is quite different from other genealogy sites. So, we've put together a guided tour to help you learn how to use it. Your first stop is How to Start Climbing Our Tree.

Tomorrow, you'll hear from a Mentor who will check in to see how you're doing and answer any questions you might have.

Next week, you'll get another message with your next stop on the guided tour.

You can also meet some of our members by joining in the fun with our Question of the Week in the G2G forum: Do you have any heroic volunteers in your branch?

See you in the branches, Cindy

Hi Carlos!

Welcome to WikiTree! Be sure to take a look at the link in the email you just got. It has important information to help you get started.  :-)

WikiTree is different than other genealogy websites because our goal is to have one profile per person, and that means we share ancestors and work together as a BIG collaborative team!

I see you’ve already volunteered. Thank you! I’ll be right back to confirm your membership.

Happy Hunting, Cindy
