On 27 Oct 1843, when Edward was about 13, his mother married George Chilvers. This made George Edward's stepfather not father as some trees are claiming. No doubt Edward would have been teased all his childhood about his illegitimacy, in the brutal way children have, and he would have been happy to have taken on his 'father's" name. However, Edward Bubbins did not become Edward Chilvers. A stepfather is not a biological father.
