I am searching my direct maternal line. There is a genealogical controversy (how rare!) about my most distant maternal ancestor, Katherine UNKNOWN (1649-1690), and whether or not she was a daughter of Giles BRENT and Mary KITTAMAQUUND. See details at https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Space:The_Legend_of_Katherine_Brent_Marsham My mitochondrial DNA appears to confirm she was not. But I am not good at interpreting the results
Other researchers have come to the conclusion that she was Katherine FISHER, https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Fisher-7348, an indentured servant to Robert Brooke, https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Brooke-97 I tend to agree with this conclusion.
My maternal line is thus: Great Grandmother: Christine PERCY b. 1884 d.1912 LA
2xG Grandmother: Catherine B. DOHERTY b. 1840 d. 1907 LA
3xG Grandmother: Sarah B. COBB b. 1808 d. 1898 LA
4xG Grandmother: Sarah BINGAMAN b. 1788 d. 1858 LA
5xG Grandmother: Sarah "Sally" BRASHEAR b. 1760 MD d. aft 1825 LA
6xG Grandmother: Catherine Lucy BELT b. 1729 d. 1773
8xG Grandmother: Katherine MARSHAM b. 1672 d. 1712
9xG Grandmother: Katherine UNKNOWN (maybe BRENT, probably FISHER) b. 1672 d. 1690

Welcome to Wikitree! I'm so glad you found us!
Wikitree is one BIG world-wide family tree that is freely accessible to everyone. Our goal is to have one profile per person which means we all work together as a BIG friendly and polite collaborative team!
If you are interested in sharing your research and want to collaborate to add your family, please fill out the TAGS on your profile page and click SAVE TAG(s) AND VOLUNTEER.
Each Tag should be a single surname like SMITH or single location like CANADA with a comment explaining why this subject interests you.
Welcome to the Family!
