Maria was born about 1829.

Research Notes

Need help finding more information about Maria's parents. From what I have found, I believe her parents were from Scotland and emigrated to Ireland, where Maria was born. I cannot find, however, any records to confirm this. I do not know at what point she emigrated to the Unites States. I cannot find any records before she married Cyrus Albert Minor.

Need to check on towns near the Mourne Mountains: 1 Newcastle is the main base for exploring the area. 2 Annalong has a 19th century corn mill. 3 Kilkeel is a fishing village. 4 Warrenpoint straggles east into Rostrevor. 5 Newry also has access to the Ring of Gullion further west.

It has been suggested that what was transcribed as Mourne Island, and appears as Mourne Ireland, in the Ancestry.com 1880 census could actually be Island More or islandmore, of which there are more than one in Ireland. Many records having been destroyed in Ireland, I'm still stumped!
