Clarence Lyndon Buck, 1842 Illinois ~ 1932, Los Angeles, CA, was the son of Hiram Allen Buck and Jeannette G. Cross. He married Ida Alice Case (born 1858 Orion Twp., Olmstead, Minnesota) on 1 November 1876 in Fairbault, Minnesota. They had four children. [1]
In 1860, the Buck family lived in Onalaska, La Crosse, Wisconsin. The family included H.A. Buck, 41, born in Ohio, a contractor, with $1500 in real estate; his wife, Jeannette C., 41, born in Ohio; their children, all born in Illinois, Lyndon (Clarence), 18; Francis, 14; Deutler, 11; and Florence, 9. Clarence L. Buck served as a Private in the Union Army, with Co. C, 10th Minnesota Infantry. He enlisted 15 August 1862 at Plainsville, Minnesota, and was mustered out on 19 August 1865 at Fort Snelling, Minnesota. He was born about 1841 in Illinois. In 1908, he was admitted to the VA Hospital in Sawtelle, California, for rheumatism, a hernia, and sciatica. He was 67, a widower, with a sandy complexion, and gray hair and eyes. Clarence resided in Los Angeles, worked as a carpenter, and was a Protestant. His contact was (his daughter) Florence A. Buck, 349 E. Ave. 52, Los Angeles. Clarence died of pneumonia following rib fractures in 1932, and was buried at Forest Lawn Cemetery. In 1908, his pension paid $12 per month; in 1914, $19; and in 1932, $25. Clarence was admitted to the hospital on 18 June 1932, and died two days later. [3]

The household included Hiram, 52, born in Ohio, a pump dealer, with $500 in personal assets; his wife Jeannette G., 54, born in Vermont; and their three children: Clarence L., 27, born in Illinois, a laborer with $200 in personal assets; Florence, 19, born in Wisconsin, a school teacher; and Eva G., 15, born in Wisconsin, a student. In 1880, the Bucks lived with Ida’s parents in Winnebago, Faribault, Minnesota. The household included Hyrum Case, 48, born in Vermont, a farmer; his wife, Sarah Case, 43, born in Connecticut; Clarence L. Buck, 37, born in Illinois, a carpenter; and his wife, Ida A. Buck, 22, born in Minnesota. [6]
In 1895, the Buck family lived in Amboy village, Blue Earth County, Minnesota. The family included Clarence L. Buck, 52, born in Illinois, a Civil War soldier, a carpenter, who lived twenty years in Minnesota, eight years in Amboy; his wife, Ida; their four children, Earl M., 14; Florence A., 11; Alfred L., 8; and Bertha B., 5; and Clarence’s father, Hiram A. Buck, 76, a jeweler, who lived in Minnesota for two months. [7]
In 1910, Clarence lived on D. South St., Chino, San Bernardino, California. Household included: Head of household, Arthur Ernst, 31, a widower, a building contractor. His cousins: Clarence Buck, 68, b. IL, widowed, a house carpenter; (and Clarence’s children) Earl M. Buck, 29, b. Minnesota, a house carpenter; and Bertha Buck, 19, b. Minnesota. [8]
In 1920, Clarence Buck lived with his daughter, Florence and her family in Los Angeles, California. The household included H.J. Coger, 41, manager of an auto sales company, who owned their house without a mortgage; his wife, Florence A., 35; their children, all in school, Hazel I., 16; Doris L., 15; and Edwin John, 13. Also living with them were a cousin, Miss Sophie M. Burns, 55; Florence’s sister, Bertha B. Buck, 29; and Florence’s father, Clarence L. Buck, 78, widowed, a carpenter. [9]
In 1930, Clarence lived with his daughter, Florence, and her family on Franklin Ave., Los Angeles, LA County, California. The household included Harry A. Codger, 52, born in Minnesota, who owned their house, valued at $36,000, and also had a radio; his wife, Florence A., 42, b. Minnesota; their daughter, Doris L., 26, b. Minnesota, a collection agency clerk; and Florence’s father, (Clarence) Linn Buck, 87, b. Illinois, a widow, with an outside income. [10]
Clarence L. Buck, 89, died in Los Angeles, California on 20 June 1932. He was born about 1843. [11]
Clarence L. Buck, 1842-1932, is buried in an unmarked grave at Forest Lawn Memorial Park, Glendale, California. His daughter, Florence A. (Buck) Coger and her husband are also buried in the same cemetery. His wife, Ida A. (Case) Buck, 1858-1901, is buried in an unmarked grave in a Minnesota cemetery. Clarence’s mother, Jeannette G. (Cross) Buck, 1817-1887, is buried in Kansas. [12]
