Gideon was the eldest child of Josiah Buckingham and Anne Brinsmade born on June 24, 1744 in Milford.^[1][2][3]

was for many years the leading man of Milford. He was judge of the county court of New Haven county about 25 years, and town clerk of Milford 35 years.
