William was born on 30 May 1853 at Gingin, Western Australia.[1]
Transcription of obituary: THE LATE WILLIAM BUCK INGHAM, SEN. The funeral of another old colonist in the person of Mr. William Buckingham, sen., took place on Thursday afternoon last in the presence of a very large gathering of relatives and friends. The deceased gentleman, who was a native of the State, was born at Pinjar, Wanneroo, some 64 years ago. For a few years he resided in his birthplace, and then proceeded to Gingin, but finally he settled at Roleystone, where he resided for the past 50 years, becoming very well known and highly respected. The cortege, which was a very lengthy one, moved from the residence of his sister-in-law, Mrs. Thomas Buckingham, 'Poplar,' Roleystone, and proceeded to the Anglican Church, where the first portion of the burial servicew as conducted by the Rev. W. A. Haynes, after which the interment took place in the Anglican Cemetery, Kelmscott. The chief mourners were Mrs. Jane Buckingham, sen. (widow),Messrs. L., A., E., and D. Buckingham (sons), Mrs. W. Morley, Mrs. G. Hicks, Mrs. J. Anderson, Mrs. G. Lindley, Mrs. A. Martin, and Misses Eva, Bertha, and Alma Buckingham, (daughters), Messrs. W. Morley, G. Hicks, J. Anderson, G. Lindley, and A. Martin (sons in-law), Mr. J. Buckingham, sen., and Mr. H. J. Buckingham (brothers), Mrs. J. Thomas and Mrs. E. Cockram (sisters), Mr. J. Thomas and Mr. J. Chuck (brothers-in-law), Mrs. J. Buckingham, Mrs. Hugh Buckingham, Mrs. Thomas Buckingham, Mrs. Alex. Buckingham. Mrs. J. Chuck, Mrs. Holt, and Mrs. Buzzard (sisters-in-law), Messrs. Henry, Willie, Fred., Charles, Walter, John, and Norman Buckingham, Henry and Arthur Cockram, J. Bamblett, Harry and Alex. Fancote, A. Chuck, N. Marsh, Bert Collins, Harry Cross, and Bob Marsh (nephews), Mrs. Maude Turner, Mrs. B. Collins, Mrs. Evans Mrs. Henry Buckingham, Mrs. H.Cross, Mrs. Alex. Fancote, Miss E. Marsh, Misses Betsy and Olive Buckingham, and Miss Ada Cockram (nieces), Mr. Henry Martin, Mrs. Woods, Mrs. Caporn, Mr. S. Salter, Messrs. C. and A. Butcher, and twenty grandchildren. The pallbearers were Messrs. R. Campbell, B. Sefton, T. Martin, A. Butcher, F. Main, and J. Murphy. Amongst those present were Messrs. J. Farnham, J. Closter, J. Murphy, E. Haynes, H. Struck, F. Barnes, G. Podger, J. Harmer, B. Martin, H. Smith, Mr. Hawkins, and Mr. Ferguson, Mrs. L. L. Smith, Mrs. Armstrong, Nurse Harper, Nurse Lamp, and Miss Olive Martin. Numerous wreaths, floral tributes, letters and telegrams of sympathy were received by the bereaved family. The funeral arrangements were in the hands of Messrs, Bowra and O'Dea. [2]
