In 1871 Charles Buckingham was living in Acre End Street in Eynsham with his parents, William and Hannah, and their other children. His age was given as 2, implying a birth date in 1868 or 1869. His birthplace was given as Ensham [that is, Eynsham], Oxfordshire. ^[2]

At the time of the 1891 census, Charles W. Buckingham was living in The Lane at Holcombe, near Newington, in Oxfordshire, as a lodger in the household of William and Mary H. E. Jennings. His age was given as 22, implying a birth date in 1868 or 1869. His birthplace was given as Eynsham, Oxfordshire. He was employed as a traction engine driver. ^[4] (Mary H. E. Jennings was Charles's sister.)

Charles William Buckingham, bachelor, aged 24, a labourer, of Holcombe, son of William Buckingham, labourer; and Edith Mary Jennings, spinster, aged 25, "labouring", of Holcombe, daughter of Stephen Jennings, labourer; were married at Newington parish church on 28 November 1891. ^{[3] [5]}

In 1911 Charles William Buckingham was living in the High Street at Ramsbury in Wiltshire with his wife Edith Mary. His age was given as 43, implying a birth date in 1867 or 1868. His birthplace was given as Eynsham, Oxfordshire. He was employed as a carter on a farm. It was stated that Charles and Edith had been married for 20 complete years and had had 1 child together, who was still living. ^[5]

Research Notes

While there was a child called Charles John Buckingham whose birth was registered in Jul-Sep quarter of 1869 in Witney registration district, he was not the child of William Buckingham and Hannah Jeffrey, because his MMN was "Lambourn". Charles William Buckingham is their child.
