Disputed Associations
A couple, Stephen Hand (Hand-635), born say 1545, and his wife Ann Buckland (Buckland-3623), born say 1547, would not have been the parents of PGM John Hand, born say 1609 (Hand-147). These parent-child associations were severed in 2021.

Hi GeneJ X, thank you good idea I'm not entirely convinced that the information that I sourced is correct . Needs more sources. I'm only qualified for 1700 and later.
Albert, is this profile meant to represent the mother of John Hand-147, early immigrant to New England? If so, John was born in 1609 at Sundridge, Kent and his parents Stephen and Ann Buckland (widow) were married in 1600 at Sundridge. Stephen and Ann were more likely born around 1570; the early birth year of "about 1547" seems to be only to accomodate a fictional generation of a "John Hand", supposed father of the immigrant who was murdered at sea while on his trip from New England back to England. However, there is absolutely no legitimate source for this murder found so far, just an unsourced privately published book.
I'm asking because, if this Ann is meant to be mother of the immigrant, then I would change the dates on the profile and eliminate the unsourced current son John Hand-323 by merging it into the proven immigrant John Hand-147. If she is NOT meant to be mother of the immigrant, then I would create new profiles to properly represent Stephen Hand and Ann Buckland of Sundridge, Kent. Thanks for your attention to this! Gene and I have corresponded on this so we are on the same page, by the way.
Thank you for supporting WikiTree.
The more the merrier. Hope you take the Pre-1700 Quiz, and then join in gathering and evaluating reliable sources. --Gene
