Biography

MRS. JOHN GRADY. (1924, January 25). Adelong and Tumut Express and Tumbarumba Post (NSW : 1900 - 1925), p. 3. Retrieved June 16, 2018, from http://nla.gov.au/nla.news-article115925330 MRS. JOHN GRADY. A very sad death occurred at Adeiong early on Monday morning last, when Mrs. Annie Sophia Grady, wife of Mr. John Grady, of Sharp's Creek, passed away. It cast quite a gloom over the town, owing to its suddenness and the great respect in which the Grady family is held by everyone for miles around. Mrs. Grady had not been well for some time, but was not seriously ill till a couple of days before death, when Dr. Gallagher was called in, and at once realised the seriousness of the position and brought the lady into Nurse Lindbeck's hospital. Acute Bright's disease had developed, and there was no possible hope of recovery, though everything possible was done to relieve her. She rapidly sank, and passed away early on Monday morning. The late Mrs.Grady was held in high esteem by all who knew her. She was a good wife and mother and a sincere friend. A husband and family are left to mourn their beloved one, the family being Freda, Eva, Emmie, Annie, Albert and Jean. There are no little ones, the youngest being 13 years of age. Mrs. Grady was 49 years and eleven months at the time of her death, her maiden name being Buckley. The funeral took place on Tuesday afternoon, when the remains were interred in the Adelong cemetery. The cortege was a long one. The last sad rites were conducted by Rev. A. G. Cutts, of Tumut (in the absence of the Rector of St. Paul's, Rev. G. F.Pyke, who is away in Sydney). We join in expressing our deepest sympathy to the bereaved ones.
