He found work as a shepherd on Terlinga Station, at Tungkillo, eventually becoming a boundary rider. John also kept a small farm on Section 10, Hundred of Tungkillo. John Buckley died of consumption in 1878. Wife, Priscilla, nee Hampshire, born in Perth, Scotland c 1841. Their son, John Buckley Junr. kept the District Hotel, Tungkillo, between 1887 - 1896. Another son, Edwin, was the South Petherton poundkeeper in the late 1920s.[1]
