  • [9] DEATH. KERR.—On November 16, at the residence of her daughter, Mrs. H. A. Laslett, Exchange Hotel, Pinjarra, Nora, the beloved wife of Thomas Alexander Kerr, aged 75 years[10].
  • [11] DEATH OF MRS. KERR. By the death, which took place at the Exchange Hotel on Friday evening Nov. 16, Pinjarra lost one of its most respected and dearly loved residents in the person of Mrs. Nora Kerr, who passed peacefully away to her reward. The deceased lady, who had reached the fine old age of 75 years, was seized with a stroke about six weeks ago, and her case was at once pronounced hope less by her medical adviser. Nevertheless, on account of her previously fine constitution, she lingered for the attention that medical aid and careful nursing from her near relatives that could be given. During the last few days, however, it was noticed that the end was approaching, and she peacefully expired on Friday evening last, fortified previously by the last rites of Holy Church.
  • The deceased lady was a general favourite with all classes of the community, and her cheery voice was ever-welcome as a visitor to every home in the district, and her kindly words and consideration for others made her highly esteemed by those throughout the district whose good fortune it was to become acquainted, with her will find it hard to realise that her dear, kindly nature is stilled in death.
  • The late Mrs. Kerr, who was the daughter of the late Mr. Daniel Buckley was born at Castle McAuliff, County Cork, Ireland, 75 years ago. At an early age she emigrated for Australia, where she has resided for 51 years, 42 of which were spent at Colraine, Victoria. Nine years ago she left Victoria with her husband, Mr. T. A. Kerr, for the West, so as to be near her daughters, most of whom reside in the State. They are: Mrs. Laslett and Mrs. Kerr, of Exchange Hotel, Pinjarra; Mrs. Schorer, Port Hedland, and Mrs. Dancocks, of Wagin. Mrs. Mulhall, of Wollongong, N.S.W., is another daughter, while her only son, Mr. Frank Kerr, is connected with the firm of Faulkner's electrical engineers, Melbourne.
  • To these and to all her sorrowing relatives we extend our deepest sympathy in, their sad bereavement. The funeral, which took place on Sunday last, was- very largely attended by friends from all parts of the district, over twenty vehicles following the remains to their last resting place. The cortege left the Exchange Hotel at 3 o'clock, and proceeded to the place of interment, the Catholic portion of the Pinjarra Cemetery. The Rev. Father Doddy conducted the funeral service at the graveside, where a very large crowd had assembled to pay their last tribute of respect to deceased's memory. The chief mourners were Mr. T. A. Kerr, (husband) and Mr. H. A. Laslett (son-in-law). The pall-bearers were Captain Laurie (Fremantle), Messrs Harrie Davies, W. G. Strickland, and. C. D. Evans....[12].
