Biography

Jane married Jesse Fortner in Carter County, Kentucky on 4 Oct 1854.^[1] at Mack Buckner's house. She was apparently the same Jane Buckner listed in Mack's household in 1850 as being 28 years of age and born in Virginia.^[2] The natural assumption would be that she was one of Mack's daughters, though she is listed at the end of the census entries, out of order from Mack's other children, so it's possible the relationship is something else. Strangely, there is no trace of either Jesse Fortner or his wife known after their marriage.
