John was born in East Tennessee on Oct. 12, 1798. He married Rachel Lindsey in 1818. About 1836 they moved to Blount Co., Ala. He died Dec. 16, 1876 and "left a large family."[1]
He was probably the John Buckner in Sevier Co. Tennessee in 1830.[2]
Research Notes
Evidence for his parentage is relatively thin, but the two most prominent facts are his birth in East Tennessee in 1798 and the fact that he named a son Wilson Buckner. There were relatively few Buckners in Tennessee before 1800 (they lived in Sullivan Co. at the time), and one of them was William Buckner who married a Wilson, so these were in all likelihood John's parents.
