Biography

William was born in 1706, the son of William and Elizabeth (Collier) Buell, in Lebanon, Connecticut Colony, where he was raised.

William would marry four times in his life.

On September 5, 1727, he married his first wife, Elizabeth Holbrook, the daughter of Daniel and Elizabeth (Seaver} Holbrook, in New London, Connecticut Colony.

They had three children that all died young:

Elizabeth Buell (1728–1736)

William Buell (1729–1736)

Martha Buell (1731–1732)

Elizabeth died on October 29, 1731, 5 days after giving birth to her daughter Martha.

On September 21, 1732, William married his second wife, Sybil Post, the daughter of Stephen and Hannah (Hosmer) Post, at Hebron, Connecticut. William and Sybil would have two children:

Daniel Buell (1735–1736)

Sybil died at Hebron, on January 26, 1737.

William married his third wife on June 2, 1737, the widow Elizabeth (Talcott) Miller, the daughter of Nathaniel and Elizabeth (Robbins) Talcott, at Hebron, Connecticut. William and Elizabeth had the following children:

Rachael (Buell) Hosford (1742–1824)

William Buell (1745–1819)

Sarah (Buell) Lord (1748–1834)

Elizabeth would live long enough to raise the children, passing away in 1790.

Deacon William Buell married for his fourth wife, Elizabeth "Betsey" Perrin, the daughter of Thomas and Elisabeth (Williams) Perrin, on Auguest 25, 1794. There were no children from this union.

William would live just two years after marrying Betsey, passing away in 1795 at 89 years of age.

In his life, William was a merchant ship captain and served as a Deacon in his church.
