Susie Buffington was born about 1820 in the Cherokee Nation (East). Her parents were Ellis Emory Buffington (1770 - 1858) and Lydia (Wright) Snow. [1] Ellis and Lydia emigrated to Indian Territory with their children in 1834. [2] Susie married Martin Root about 1837. They were the parents of Wiliam and Martin. Susie's death date is unknown, but she does not appear on the 1851 Old Settler Roll with her sons. [3]
