Biography

Sarah was born about 1851. She is the daughter of Carlos Buffum and Lucy Walling. There is no record of her date of birth, but Carlos and Lucy were married in February, 1850.

There is a court document dated November 1854 naming Sarah's grandfather Jerome Bishop Walling as her guardian, so she was still alive at that time. No record of Sarah has been found later than 1854; it is not known when or where she died.

Research Notes

A newspaper article (Herald and News / Klamath Falls, OR / 17 March 1960, Page 2). tells a family story about Sarah's death. There is no other verification of this story and, like many family stories, it may be unreliable.
