One unsourced genealogy shows this Samuel Bugg, born 16 Sep 1717 in New Kent County, Virginia, as marrying first to Ann Hix and having four children by her: [3]

4. John J., b. abt. 1763

Little is known of the Anselm Bugg who was the son of Samuel and Sarah Bugg. His birth date is unknown, but based on the date of his parents marriage and the births of his siblings, he would have been between about 1715 and the early-to-mid 1730s.
Most unsourced online profiles show this Anselm Bugg as born about 1712 and marrying Joyce Ballard. [5]
There is an Anselm Bugg listed in St. James Parish, Lunenburg County, with five tiithables for the year 1764; [6] which could be this Anselm Bugg.
There is a DAR profile for a 1st Lt. Anselm Bugg born 1742 in Henrico Co., VA, married Lucy Morgan, and died 1815-20 in Virginia; [7] and there is a marriage record for Anselm Bugg and Lucy Morgan dated 10 May 1791 in Granville Co., NC; [8] but both of these seem to be too late for a son of Samuel & Sarah Bugg.
There is an "Anseln Bugg, sol., Field's, Habersham" listed in the 1832 Cherokee Indian Nation land lottery in Georgia, 16th District, 3rd Section; [9] which is definitely a different Anselm Bugg.
