Benoni Bugg was born in Sutton in Ashfield, Nottinghamshire, England.
Benoni Bugg was born at Sutton in Ashfield, Nottinghamshire, England in 1782. He was baptised on the 15th March 1782 at St Mary Magdalene, Sutton in Ashfield [1].
He married Mary Thorpe at St Mary's Church, Sutton in Ashfield on the 12th January 1809[2]. They were married after banns and both were "of this parish". The witnesses to the marriage were Willm Chadwin and Thos. Dove.[3]
They had the following identified children:
- Mary Bugg bp 1816 St Mary, Nottingham
- Joseph Bugg bp 1819 St Peter, Radford
- Thirza Bugg bp 1821 - bur 1822 St Peter, Radford
- Stephen Taylor Bugg bp 1822 - bur 1824 St Peter, Radford
- Sidney Bugg bp 1825 St Mary, Nottingham - bur 1825 Radford
- Eli Bugg bp 1826 St Mary, Nottingham
Research Notes
The list of children were compiled from the Notts Baptism Index and are based on the parents named as "Benoni and Mary Bugg". There was also a John Bugg baptised at Sutton in Ashfield in 1810 to a "Benjamin & Mary Bugg", and a John Bugg "son of Benjamin" was buried in St Mary, Nottingham in 1811. That was the only entry with a father's name Benjamin, which could suggest it should have read Benoni?
