There have been no records found for the birth/christening of Anthony; the locally transcribed East Meon parish records don't have any possible entry.
There are two IGI records for the marriage to Anne Munday, the other gives the date as 4 February 1711. On the marriage license[1] dated 10 February, they are both "of Chilgrove in Westdeane (sic)".
On the locally transcribed record for the baptism of daughter Sarah, is the annotation "A certificate man". This seems to relate to being, or having been, a pauper from another parish[2], and suggests that he may not have been born in East Meon. Given that the purported father, Anthony, left a significant landholding to son John, this would seem to be an unexpected outcome for the eldest son. In his will John then left his property to a John Bulbeck of Chilgrove, presumably the son of Anthony. There would seem to be a story here, but we probably will never know what it was.
