Thomas Bullock, Sr. was born to James Bullock and Ann (Goodrum) Bullock. His father died young in 1777 in St. Mary's County, Maryland and his father's widow, Ann, married secondly to Robert Buckler and came to what is now Loretto, Marion County, Kentucky. Thomas Bullock, Sr. was the maternal grandson of William Goodrum and Mary (Lee) Bullock.

Thomas Bullock married Rebecca Lee, daughter of Philip Lee, the diarist. Filed with their marriage bond dated April 21, 1796 was her father's consent signed April 20, 1796, showing the witnesses to this consent were Samuel Hardin, Cornelius Buckler, the surety, and Samuel Lee. The Protestant minister for this marriage was the Rev, Baldwin Clifton. These marriage records are filed in Marriage Book I, page 13, and Ministers' Return Book #I, page 6 in the County Clerk's Office in Springfield, Kentucky.

In 1799, August 1, 1799 Thomas Bullock was in possession of 150 acres of third-rate land on the headwaters of Prather's Creek in what is now Loretto, Marion County, Kentucky, where Mrs. Gabe Osborne, Jr. now lives. At that time he owned two slaves over 16 years of age. He also owned two horses.

Thomas Bullock, Sr. and Rebecca (Lee) Bullock were the parents of, at least: Ann (Bullock) Green, 1800-1863; James Garrett "Father James Vincent Bullock, O.P." Bullock, 180x-1857; Samuel Bullock, 1804-18xx, my ancestor who was living in 1880 Ann (Bullock) Peterson, 1810-1894; and Thomas Bullock, Jr., Martha's ancestor who was born after his father's death.

In a handwritten military book of the 4th Kentucky Militia, it says, "At a Court Martial at the house of Jerboam Beauchamp on the 13th of March 1813 Thomas Bullock was appointed Judge advocate pro temp.

Thomas Bullock became ill with what was called "the Cold Plague of 1814'[. This ailment took many of our pioneer Kentucky ancestors. He wrote his will on April 9, 1814 and it was probated on May 9, 1814, and recorded in Washington County, Kentucky Will Book #B on page 334. In this will he said that " Being sick in body, etc.

Item One: I give unto my beloved wife Rebecca Bullock all of my estate both real and personal so long as lives except a Negro girl Charlotte. This I do to enable her to keep, clothe and school my children free from any charge or expense to the children. And it is also my will that an Inventory of all the estate should be entered of record and that my said wife have the use and benefit but not to scatter or waste the same, so that the dividend of each child's part at her [Rebecca's] death or marriage shall not be less than would have been at the time of the Appraisal.

Item Two: I give to my daughter Ann said Negro girl Charlotte when the other property is appraised by her [Ann} paying to the other children should the valuation exceed their dividend.

Item Three: At the marriage or death of my wife Rebecca it is my will that my Negro woman Beck shall be freed, consequently she is not to be included in said Inventory. And the balance of my estate to be equally divided among all my children, except Charlotte is to be included in my daughter Ann's portion, and also my son James and my daughter Nancy are to receive twenty-five dollars each less than the rest on account and schooling and expense I have seen with them.

Item Four: I appoint my wife, Rebecca Bullock, and her brother Richard Lee executors of this my last will.

The witnesses to this will were John Lancaster and Wilfred Goodrum. This will was signed by Thomas Bullock.

The following probate records of Thomas Bullock are filed in the following will books in the Washington County Clerk's Office in Springfield, Kentucky: Will, Book #B, page 334; Widow's Dower, #B, page 381, Inventory, #b, page 3821; List of Sales, #B, page 388; Executor's Account, # B, page 522; Guardian Settlement, #C, page 103; Guardian Settlement, #C, page 417; Guardian Settlement, #D, page 320 and Guardian Settlement #D, page 314. Mentioned in the Guardian Settlements are his children: James Bullock, Ann Bullock, and Thomas Bullock.
