"I saw behind me those who had gone, and before me those who are to come. I looked back and saw my father, and his father, and all our fathers, and in front my son, and his sons, and the sons beyond." ~ Richard Llewellyn

My Name is Amy McAndrews. My father was John Kendrick Bumgardner, my mother was Etta Kathryn Harris. I have three siblings, Jim Bumgardner, Larry Bumgardner, and Kathryn Ellsworth.
I was born in Baton Rouge, Louisiana at Baton Rouge General Hospital. Schools I attended: East Brookstown Elementary School, Prescott Junior High School, Livonia High School, and Cotton Valley High School. There was also a school in Lafayette, Louisiana, but I don't remember the name.
I graduated from the LPN program at Baton Rouge Vocational-Technical School in 1977 and I have worked as a nurse ever since (37 years and counting).
In my nursing career I worked for 1 year in the Well Baby Nursery, 5 years in Neonatal Intensive Care, 16 years in Home Health, and 13 years in Long Term Care. I have been working with Alzheimer's patients for the last 3 years.
I have three wonderful sons, and five awesome grandchildren. We are a Louisiana family, although I am now living in New Mexico, my heart is in Louisiana.
As a young child I was fascinated by the old family stories. I would sit and grill my mother about my Grandparents, their children, and so forth, writing everyone down with their birthdays, children, etc. I would read my Grandmother's family Bible with wonder. Who were they, where did they come from? On family trips, usually to a funeral, my father would be telling all the old stories about the family. Why didn't I write it down? My Aunt Bill and Uncle Tom would take their family vacations every year to a different area where our ancestors had lived and go through dusty old files. How much could they have done with a site like this? All the old story tellers are gone now. I feel it is up to me to pass this rich history on to my children and grandchildren. Personally, I gain strength from knowing my ancestors and the contributions they made to their country and their communities.
I love this project, and yes, I am a Wikitree addict. Through my research I have found connections that I never knew existed, and I can't wait to see what I can discover in the future.

Let me explain what will happen if you no longer wish to continue on WikiTree, all of your living profiles will be deleted for privacy reasons, all profiles meeting the 150/200 year rule will be opened up and orphaned so others may adopt them and your personal profile will be deleted. I understand how tough that will be after all the work you have put into building profiles. Is there someone you can transfer your profiles to? If yes, please contact me and I will send you information on how to do that.
Thank you for all of your past contributions and hopefully future contributions.

Project Coordinator for Membership Global Cemeteries Project
Weve made some exciting changes to the Global Cemeteries Project. The sub-projects have been merged into the Global Project to help with Leadership and to facilitate collaboration.
Some roles within the project have changed. From now on, there are Project Coordinators for each continent, and one for Welcome and Integration, plus Team Leaders for each individual Country etc.
Please let me know if youd like to stay on in the new project, if youd like to continue in an existing role, and which team(s) youd like to be on. Please also give me your e-mail address so that I can get you added to the projects Google Group.
Many thanks,
Susie
