Millard's headstone lists 1880 as his year of birth, but his death record lists the correct year of 1881. His county of birth isn't known. Millard married Esther Jackson on March 27, 1904, in Morgan County, Tennessee (they had no children). Millard was shot and killed during a card game in Morgan County, Tennessee, near Oliver Springs by Hood Lyles (who was later acquitted according to the Morgan County Court record).
