John "Jack" Bungaree was Mary Ann Sandy's (nee Mitchell) 2nd husband and born in 1853 at Nerang[1], now on the Gold Coast of Queensland. However, no sources are provided in that Ancestry FT. [John was widely travelled in south east Queensland and "a man of influence" - or does this apply to John "Billy" Bungaree? - see below] .
John Jack is indicated in the unsourced Ancestry FT to have married Mary in 1882, but a possible age of 23 would indicate the date of marriage to have been earlier in 1876, after which they had two sons, who were still named for her first husband Alexander Sandy as Lindsay James "Billy" Sandy and Norman Sandy, as was Ida, who was Alexander's daughter - she was born in 1873 and was with her mother in Deebing Creek Mission in 1897 (or possibly earlier in 1894?).
There is another John Bungaree, known as John "Billy" Bungaree, who was born ? in the Brisbane area, at a camp where the Botanical Gardens are now located, in about 1859 based on age 84/85 at death in August 1943 at Tweed Heads, registered at Murwillumbah. He may have been buried in Fingal General Cemetery in Tweed Shire. He requires a separate profile.
According to the NNTT records Alexander/John Bungaree/King Sandy and "Paimba" Mary Ann Mitchell were a Claim Group.
