He married Betsey S. Bray, daughter of Israel and Polly (Wellcome) Bray of Freeman, Maine. This family is also listed separately in the same 1928 Genealogy. He went by his middle name, Moody. The name Moody comes from William Moody of Newbury, MA who married his father's sister Abigail. Benjamin Moody was the oldest of his father's second family. He married at age 37 after his younger brothers and sisters could care for themselves. Appears he never attended school and could not read or write, although his siblings were well educated. He served in the war of 1812. After his marriage, he lived on a farm near the Bray place in Freeman, ME until 1850 when he bought a farm in Phillips, ME. Among his descendants were several superior scholars. He had seven children:
