Biography

Angeline was born in 1925 to Willie Burchett and Alta Caroline Caudill. She was raised in Stambaugh, Johnson County, Kentucky. She lived on the family farm where they always had a large garden and chickens. When she was a young girl, she accidently set the kitchen on fire. Her mother and father ran to put out the fire. Her brother, Ernest taught her to read and instilled in her the importance of learning, which she would later pass on to her children. She graduated from Oil Springs High School and attended Berea College.

After college, Angie taught school in Johnson Co., KY. In her class, she had students in multiple grades. One of her students was her sister, Wilma. The school never had electricity when Angie first started working there. She asked the superintendent if he would pay for the electricity if she had the light fixtures installed. When he said yes, she arranged for a pie social to raise the money and earned enough for the lights.

Angie married Jim Dearring in 1947 and settled in Columbus, Ohio to raise their 5 daughters. About 1966 or so, Angie took a part time job working at the Ohio State University Hospital Information desk. She eventually started working full time and became the supervisor at the information desk before her retirement.

Angeline died in 2011 and is buried in Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens in Columbus, Ohio.
