“George W. Burchett, son of Benjamin and Nancy LewisBurchett, b ca 1834,d 1870-73, a resident of Ivy Creek,KY, when he married 14 Oct 1855 Mary Hunt a daughter of William and Sarah Hunt. "George was killed by his cousin, Drury Burchett. (and brother-in- law, Drury being the son of druryburchett/elizabeth mccowan, and married to minera jane burchett, 1852 sister of george w. burchett)
George was in Co.F 10 Reg.KY Confederate Cav. during the Civil War. He was a prisoner of war in Tennessee and paroled 28 April 1865.
note: drury burchett Jr. who killed George was in the same Co.F 10 Reg., a prisoner of war in Tennessee, and paroled the same day as George.
After George was killed Mary and children moved to Lawrence County, Kentucky.
