George Washington Burchett:

d. appx--murdered by cousin Drury Burchett.

Holden says: "George was killed with a knife on Cow Creek during a fight with his cousin Drury Burchett, Jr., a son of Drury and Elizabeth McCowan Burchett." and "George was in Co. F., 10 Regt., KY Confederate Cav. Was a prisoner of war in TN and parolled 28 Apr. 1865." and notes that Drury was in same company with him, also imprisoned and parolled with him.

George was in Co.F 10 Reg.KY Confederate Cav. during the Civil War. He was a prisoner of war in Tennessee and paroled 28 April 1865.

note: drury burchett Jr. who killed George was in the same Co.F 10 Reg., a prisoner of war in Tennessee, and paroled the same day as George.

After George was killed Mary and children moved to Lawrence County, Kentucky.

Per Floyd County Court Records Book 12 page 31 and 1399,

11 Nov 1873, J.H.Herald was appointed administrator for the estate of George Burchett, his security was J.Jarvis.

Reported no assets belonging to the deceassed.
