Biography

Emerson Burchett served in the United States Civil War.

He was born about 1841 in Kentucky and his parents were Martha "Patsey" (Bristow) and Joseph Burchett.

During the American Civil War he served in the military.

Hiram Burchett first married Mary Elizabeth Spencer.

Hiram Burchett married secondly to Sirilda Jane Long who received a widow's pension for his military service. [1]

He died in 1916 and was buried at Mount Pleasant Cemetery in Butterfield, Barry County, Missouri. [2]

J. Mitchell's F Company, 15 MO Volunteer Cavalry Regiment. The 15 was formed from the 7 from the 7 Provisional Cavalry Regiment, Union. Emerson's enlistment papers describe him as being of Marion Township, Polk Co., MO. He was 23 years of age, a farmer with blue eyes, light hair, fair complexion and 5 ft, 6 in, in height. From Aug. 1864 to Feb. 1865 Emerson was on detached service on a scout to AR. He was discharged on Jun. 30 1865.
