The marriage of Miss Matilda Marcella Burgasser, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. George Burgasser, Sr., to Mr. John Adam Benke was solemnized Wednesday, morning, July 30, 1924 at 9 o’clock in the church of the Annunciation, Elma N.Y. The Rev. John Schmitt, officiating, with the Rev. Nuwer and Rev. Winter assisting. The bride, who was given away by her father, wore a gown of white georgette, headed with pearls. Her veil was embroidered and arranged in a coronet headdress. She carried a shower bouquet of bride’s roses and white sweet peas. The matron of honor Mrs. Frank X. Mittler, was gowned in prouder blue headed georgette and wore a bandeau of silver leaves. She carried pink butterfly roses and pink sweet peas. Mr. Walter Watkins was best man. Following the ceremony there was a reception at the home of the bride on Schwartz Road. Covers were laid for 75 guests. Mr. and Mrs. J. Benke will be at home, after August 20th, at 175 Schuele avenue, Buffalo, N.Y. (Lancaster Enterprise, August 7, 1924)
