Edwin was born in Westminster, Middlesex in 1885[1]. He was the son of Fred Burgess and Alice Eliza (Dunkley) Burgess. Edwin was baptised at St Matthew's, Westminster on 18th August 1886, the same day as his brother Frederick. His birth date was recorded on the register as 15th July 1885[2]. His father stated on the register that he was a compositor and that the family were living at 28D Peabody Buildings, Orchard Street at the time.

The Burgesses left Liverpool on 22nd April 1903 on the "Canada" heading to Montreal, Canada[7]. On board were Frederick (44), Alice (39), Frederick (18), Edwin (17), Alice (15), Annie (13), Richard (11), Bessie (8), Nellie (6), Charles (3) and May (1).
They arrived in Montreal on 2nd May 1903[8]
Death
Edwin died on April 25th, 1972 in British Columbia.[9]-

Burgess-11141 and Burgess-10030 appear to represent the same person because: Same birth date and place and parents (see bio on Burgess-10030). NOTE that he did not have a middle name of Richard mentioned on either his birth registration nor on his baptism.
