William Burgess is an Anzac who served in the Boer War.
William Joseph Burgess, farmer at Wodonga, joined the 4th Victorian Imperial Bushmen/Australian Imperial Regiment (A.I.R.) (regimental number 595) and sailed from Port Melbourne on the "Victorian" on 1 May 1900 for South Africa.[2][3] In February 1902 he joined the 4th Battalion, Australian Commonwealth Horse to return to South Africa.[4][5]

BURGESS—ROLLERI.—At St. Peter's Roman Catholic Church, Daylesford, on 6th November, Mr W. Burgess, of Wodonga, was married to Miss Louisa Rolleri, fourth daughter of Mrs K. Rolleri, Parina House, Hepburn. The Rev. Father English officiated, and the bride was given away by her brother, Mr Louis Rolleri. She wore a trained gown of silk, with a lace yoke, and a veil over a coronet of orange blossom. Her bouquet was of white, lilac and clematis. The bridesmaids were Miss Lucy Rolleri (wearing white silk, relieved with Wedgewood blue velvet, and a white hat with pink roses), and Miss Nance Burgess, in blue voile, with a floral toque. Wedding tea was served in the large dining-hall at Parina House.
