Biography

Oma was born in 1911 in Pikeville, Bledsoe Co., Tennessee. She was the daughter of Amos Burgess and Emma Edmonds.

She first married Kenneth M. Holloway about 1929 in Wyandotte Co., Kansas. Her only children were issued to this first marriage:

• Kenneth Robert Holloway (1930-2018)
• James Ronald Holloway (1932-1993)

Kenneth M. passed away on 1 Jan 1938.

She married William F Cooper (1910-abt.1978) on 25 Dec 1939 ^{[1] [2]}.

Oma was employed as a distinguished seamstress at Nelly Don, Inc. and had her own signature garment line that carried the label "Oma Lee Originals".

There is family lore that she may have had a brief or otherwise annulled marriage to a man named Paul Nicely between 1938-1939 that hasn't been confirmed in documentary evidence. She signed her named as Mrs. Kenneth Holloway, Mrs. Paul Nicely and Mrs. William Cooper on the back of a photograph.

She passed away on 21 Dec 2002 in Clay Co., Missouri. She is buried at Maple Hill Cemetery in Kansas City, Wyandotte Co., Kansas ^[3].
